Khandu allocates portfolios among Ministers
Itanagar, Apr 17 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu today distributed portfolios among his Council of Ministers.
Mr Khandu himself retained the departments which had not been assigned to any other Ministers, according to state secretary Tabom Bam.
Mr Nabam Tuki in charge of the Public Works Department and Urban Development, Mr Tako Dabi-- Water Resources Development, Election, Parliamentary affairs and Panchayat Raj, Mr C C Singpho-- Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs&Health and Family Welfare, Mr Newlai Tingkhatra-- Environment and Forests and Mines and Mr Kalikho Pul-- Finance, Tax and Excise, were able to retain same portfolios served by them in the previous Gegong Apang ministry.
However, Mr Chowna Mein, who was the Education, Cooperation, Research and Libraries Minister in Mr Apang's Cabinet, was given the charge of Rural Works Department and Rural Development.
Mr Tatar Kipa who was in charge of Public Health Engineering along with Water Supply, Labour&Panchayat in the previous government has been given the charge of Education, Research, Libraries and Gazetteers with his earlier assignment of Labour and Employment portfolio, while, Mr Lombo Tayeng who incharge was of Industries, Textile&Handloom, Trade&Commerce and Social Welfare departments has been assigned to Public Health Engineering&Water Supply and Co-operation departments.
However, Home along with Vigilance, Information Technology and Science&Technology portfolios were handed to Mr Jarbom Gamlin.
Earlier, Mr Gamlin served as Home minister in Mr Apang's government but was later dropped from his Council of Ministry in 2005.
The Industries, Textiles&Handlooms, Trade&Commerce and Social Welfare, Women and Child Development portfolios went to Mr Tanga Byaling, who was assigned the Rural Development and Rural Works Department in the previous government.
Mr Atum Welly was handed the departments of Land Management, Fisheries, Economics and Statistics, Sports&Youth Affairs and Cultural Affairs. Mr Welly served as a Minister in the Mukut Mithi-led Congress Ministry.
The Ministers were sworn on Sunday last by Governor S K Singh, while the Chief Minister took oath on April 9 last after taking the rein from Mr Gegong Apang by gathering the support of the majority MLAs.
