HC issues contempt rules against Police Chief and union leaders

Kolkata, Apr 17 (UNI) Calcutta High Court today issued contempt rules against West Bengal police chief and ten trade union leaders for violating a court order directing to clear all obstacles to resume normalcy in the car manufacting factory Hind Motors (HM).

Justice Dipankar Dutta issued the rulling on writ petition filed by HM authoriters seeking judicial internvention to bring back normalcy in the factory in Hoogly which is facing crisis in car making due to agitating employees.

The court last week issued a direction asking the law enforcing authorities to take necessary steps so that normal work could be resumed in the factory, facing agitaiton by a section of employees over the demand of wage disputes and working hours.

But the agitators, who are believed to be supporters of a left trade union, however, violated the court order and continued the agiation in support of the demand.

Justice Mr Dutta asked the agitating the police chief and ten leaders to file affidavit in two weeks stating why contempt rules would not the issued against them for violating the court order.

The matter will come up for hearing again on May 17.
