Govt earns Rs 192.26 cr dividend on shares in SCI
New Delhi, Apr 17 (UNI) The government has earned a dividend of Rs 192.26 crore on its 80.12 per cent shareholding in the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI).
A cheque for the amount earned was received by Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways T R Baalu from the Chairman and Managing Director of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) S Hajara here today.
The SCI had declared an Interim Dividend of 85 per cent for the year 2006-07 and a net profit of Rs. 729.93 crore for the nine months ending on December 31,2006.
The SCI is the largest shipping company of the country and the first one to enter the LNG transportation business as partner in a joint venture, comprising of SCI, Mitsui OSK Lines, NYK Line and K-Line.
It has also formed a joint venture company with Forbes Gokak Ltd and Sterling Investment Corporation Pvt Ltd for owning and operation of chemical carriers.
