Couple decamp with jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh

Jalandhar, Apr 17 (UNI) A couple allegedly decamped with a bag containing nearly two kg gold ornaments, worth Rs 20 lakh, from a jeweller's shop here today.

According to information, Anil Kumar, owner of Bhardwaj Jewellers in a complaint to the police stated that a man alongwith a woman came to his shop to purchage some artificial jewellery. After the purchase, the couple asked him if they could wait in the shop as their mother was also coming to buy something.

When the couple was waiting, a boy from the nearby chemist shop came and informed Anil that there was a telephone call for him at their shop. When he came back after attending the telephone call, found the couple missing with a bag containing gold ornaments.

Police has registered a case of fraud against the unidentified couple and further investigations were on.
