Congress municipal councillor hacked to death

Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Apr 17 (UNI) A Congress municipal councillor was hacked to death at Tenali town in this district last evening.

Police said Sambasiva Rao (50) was attacked by unidentified assailants while he was returning on his motor-cycle from a municipal council meeting to his residence.

Following the incident, a bandh was observed today in the town.

The police have taken four persons into custody for interrogation in this connection.

It may be recalled that Sambasiva Rao was sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case in 1995.

But his sentence was quashed by the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
