Collectorate introduces SMS facility in state

Kannur, Kerala, Apr 17 (UNI) The Kannur Collectorate has become the first in the state to introduce SMS facility for the public to know about the position of their file with the Collectorate.

The SMS inquiry system has been introduced to facilitate speedy, transparent, accountable, efficient and effective interaction with the public, any time anywhere, including NRIs, said District Collector Ishita Ray and BSNL DIG (Plg) P Baburaj yesterday.

The computerisation of Kannur Collectorate, under the Modernising Government Programme (MGP), was in progress and the project for E-District was in the preliminary stage, Mr Ray said.

The Project titled ''DC Suite'' being implemented by National Informatics Centre (NIC) in the district collectorates would aim at making all services more accessible to the people.
