CII prepares 20-year vision plan for Tamil Nadu

Chennai, Apr 17: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has submitted a 20-year vision document to the Tamil Nadu Government for a competitive and inclusive Tamil Nadu in building exclusive cities and entrepreneurship for development.

"We have submitted an ambititious 20-year comprehensive blue-print on building the brand image of the state to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi," CII Tamil Nadu Chairman Gopal Srinivasan told newspersons here today.

The state has a great window of opportunity by focusing and synergizing its energies on various sectors, he said adding the vison document would create a partnership between the government and the industry-academia to leverage the skills of entreprenurs in the region for all round growth." Mr Srinivasan also mentioned that document would transform Tamil Nadu itself into a global ICT superpower.

" CII has planned visit various schools and colleges across the state to seek the opinion of the students how the state should look after 20 years.

"The government has given a positive response in implementing the vision plan within six months.

"We will also work with the government to expand the Chennai Airport International Terminal and sprucing up the domestic terminal to attract outside investors into the state," he said.

Apart from this, CII also chalked out a plan for nurturing SC/ST students on different industrial skills by setting up an high-tech vocational school at Sripermubudur and imparting soft skills training to SC/ST students from rural colleges.

On the cultural perspective, Mr Srinivasan said "CII has formed 'Tamizh Kondatam," a cultural promotion plan to preserve and strengthen Tamil language.
