Boy dies after falling in manhole

Lucknow, Apr 17 (UNI) In a tragic incident, a 12-yr-old boy died after falling in an open manhole in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh today.

Aas Mohammed alias Kalua fell in the manhole while playing in Islamnagar in Kotwali area, police said.

Although, Armymen and fire brigade personnel had been pressed into service, they failed to save the minor.

Irked over the incident, people staged a 'dharna' on the national highway. The situation turned worse, when the mob resorted to stone pelting wounding several people.

Meanwhile, senior officials had reached the spot and the situation was said to be under control.
