Anand railway station bags 'best kept station' award
Anand, Apr 17 (UNI) Anand railway station has bagged an 'A category' ''Best Kept Station'' award for 2006-07.
The award, comprising a shield, a citation and a cash prize of Rs 2,000, was given away yesterday by the Vadodara DRM KL Pande to Anand station superintendent DJ Vaghela here.
Accepting the award, Mr Vaghela said,'' that this award belongs to the employees without whose hardwork and dedication this could not have been achieved.'' Petlad railway station in the district also bagged ''E'' category award, that consists of a shield, citation and Rs 1000 cash prize. Kim railway station in Surat district bagged ''D'' category award comprising a shield, citation and Rs 1000.
Meanwhile two ''Touch Inquiry'' machines are to be installed in Anand railway station by the month end. Mr Vaghela told UNI that the machines have already arrived. However as the station is being renovated installation of the machines could take 15 to 20 days more.
These machines would help passengers in getting details of trains by simply touching the screen he further added.
