Amway India enters Andaman

Port Blair, Apr 17 (UNI) Amway India, a direct selling Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company, today inaugurated its office here.

The Direct Selling major, finished had a turnover of Rs 738 crores last year and Rs 633 crores in 2005.

This represents a robust growth of almost 17 per cent.

'' We believe that the Rs 1000 crore milestone is just around the corner,'' Director Distributor Relations&Marketing Stephen Beddoe said.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Beddoe said as part of Amway's expansion strategy, company has opened its office in this far flung island.

This office would cater to the needs of Amway Business Owners and their customers of Andaman&Nicobar.

The office would provide easy access to any information on the company, products and services. It shall facilitate product purchasing, new enquiries and other such customer services related activities as well, he said.

Mr Beddoe added that Amway had started business with mere six products and from five offices, but today there are over 80 products and around 108 offices across the length and breadth of the country, with home deliveries to over 2500 towns and cities.

The Amway business is driven by the 450,000 active distributors providing them an income earning opportunity. Amway contributed more that Rs 175 crores to the government exchequer in 2006 by way of direct and indirect taxes and duties, he added.
