Admn examining relief to construction workers: Valsaraj

Puducherry, Apr 17 (UNI) The Puducherry administration will examine the possibility of providing relief to the construction workers during rainly season on the lines of fishermen during the period of ban on fishing, Labour Minister E Valsaraj told the legisative assembly today.

Replying to a question, he said as there was crunch for funds, he would hold discussion with Chief Minister and take a decision at the time of replying to the demands.

Answering another question, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said the government would extend financial assistance under the Rajiv Gandhi Protection scheme to poor families even if the breadwinner died at the age of 65.

Presently, the assistance was being provided from 18 to 56 years, he said adding the government would provide the assistance even in the case of the breadwinner taking the extreme step.

All the applications till Febrauary were cleared and the government would take measures to provide the balance if any, he added.
