ABVP men attack professors, varsity staff calls for bandh
Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, Apr 17 (UNI) Teaching and non-teaching staff of Kakatiya University called for a bandh today after activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) manhandled five professors at an examination branch in the university premises.
The injured, including three professors of Physics Department, who received head injuries, were admitted to Mahatma Gandhi Government Hospital in Warangal Town, police said.
The activists also ransacked the examination branch, damaged furniture and destroyed documents.
The activists blamed the professors for the failure of the students 'who wrote examinations well.' In protest against the ABVP attack, the teaching and non-teaching staff of the university called for the bandh and abstained from duty for day.
Meanwhile, the police has taken five ABVP activists into their custody and is interrogating them to nab others involved in the violent act.
