MP: 5 Sanskrit scholars presented awards

Bhopal, Apr 17: Five Sanskrit scholars were presented with various awards at a function organised by the Madhya Pradesh Sanskrit Board.

Noted Sanskrit scholar from Karnataka Ramchandra, who dedicated his life for promoting Sanskrit, was presented the 'Bhavbhuti Puraskar', which comprise Rs one lakh in cash, shawl and memento.

'Bhartrihari Puraskar' was presented to Pandit Jagdish Prasad Tripathi of Vijayraghavgarh (Katni) and Rangnathacharya of Ujjain for 2005-06 and 2006-07 respectively, while 'Patanjali Puraskar' was presented to Somnath Nene of Ujjain's Vikram University and Bhagwath Sharan Shukla of Kashi Hindu University for 2005-06 and 2006-07 respectively.

Both Bhartihari and Patanjali awards carry Rs 21,000 in cash, shawl and citation.

At the award presentation function held at Bharat Bhavan here yesterday, Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani was the chief guest and BJP leader Anil Madhav Dave the special guest, while Minister of State for School Education Paras Jain presided, says an official release.
