Ghaziabad, Apr 17: A 12-year-old boy fell into an open manhole this morning in Kotwali area here.

Army jawans were rushed to the spot to rescue Aas Mohammad alias Kalua, son of Rais and a resident of Amar Colony from the 12 feet deep manhole.

Search was still on after more than six hours of 'rescue operation' involving Army jawans, municipal corporation and the Fire Brigade, sources said.

However, no signs of the boy were seen despite putting in several hours of efforts.

The flow of the water is extremely swift and the boy is nowhere to be seen, but efforts are on to bring him out of the manhole, said an official supervising the 'operation'.

Meanwhile, the municipal corporation is trying to drain out the water to 'find' Mohammad.

Aas Mohammad fell into the manhole at about 0900 hrs while passing by, sources said.
