Vision statement for development of urban areas prepared:Lyngdoh

Shillong, Apr 16 (UNI) Meghalaya Minister-in-charge, Urban Affairs, Paul Lyngdoh said the government had prepared a vision statement for development of urban areas in the state.

He said in the Assembly that seven other towns under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT) and Integrated Housing for Slum Development Programme (IHSDP) had been taken up.

The vision statement was being prepared for these towns on the basis of the situational analysis, future requirements and the aspiration of the resident of these towns, the Minister said.

The schemes were launched by Ministry of Urban Development and Ministry of Housing and Poverty Alleviation during December, 2995.

He, however, said the vision could only be achieved provided there was flow of fund, and reforms as laid down in the guideline of the scheme were fulfilled.
