Uma's return to BJP a mere formality: Digvijay

Lucknow, Apr 16: Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Congress leader Digvijay Singh today said the return of firebrand leader and former MP CM Uma Bharti to the BJP was now a ''mere formality''. In a brief interaction with with the here, the AICC general secretary said like former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh, Ms Bharti too would return to BJP. He said this in reply to a poser on Ms Bharti withdrawing her candidates from UP assembly elections on the request of VHP leader Ashok Singhal.

Mentioning about the low voter turnout in first two phases of assembly elections, he said it only indicated that no bogus voting took place. ''One must thank the Election Commission for this,'' he added.

Mr Singh was in the state capital to campaign for Congress candidates in the ongoing assembly elections.
