Two BSF personnel injured in land mine blast

Amritsar, Apr 16 (UNI) Two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, including a Company Commander, were injured in a land mine explosion near Border Outpost (BOP) Phul Kanjeri in the Amritsar sector today.

According to BSF sources, Inspector Bhajirath Singh, the Company Commander and sepoy Gurmit Singh were injured when one of the two stepped on a low intensity land mine between the barbed wire fence and the zero line with Pakistan. The two along with other BSF jawans were on, routine foot patrol when the incident occured.

Low intensity land mines are placed at certain sensitive points near the border in Punjab to check infiltration. The two injured personnel were admitted in the Guru Nanak Dev medical college hospital here and are stated to out of danger.
