Tension in MP town, 11 held

Shajapur, MP, Apr 16 (UNI) Eleven people have been arrested so far in connection with the clash between members of two communities over a trivial issue last evening and subsequent arson targeting two trucks, police said today.

Superintendent of Police Asha Mathur said an army jawan, belonging to Fania village, had an argument with a person from Maksi after the latter's multi-utility vehicle hit the jawan's motorcycle.

Later, the army jawan was beaten up. Subsequently, residents of Fania village set two trucks on fire.

Additional police force were deployed in the area as a precautionary measure.

Tension prevailed in Maksi after the incident.

Meanwhile, former state Minorities Commission Chairman Ibrahim Qureshi said the incident was an outcome of an argument at personal level and had no communal tinge.
