Suspect in IT-employee murder case arrested

Pune, Apr 16 (UNI) Crime branch sleuths here have arrested a man for allegedly killing a pregnant married woman, a graphic designer with an IT company in Hinjewadi, recently.

Police said the suspect, Ganesh Nanaware (32), a driver and father of two children, was arrested late last night, for allegedly abducting and murdering Rupali Chavan (24), resident of Phursungi.

Rupali, who had been suspected to be kidnapped on April 2, was found murdered at Bhor on April 4.

During interrogation, Nanaware confessed that he stranged Rupali to death as she spurned him.

Rupali went missing on April 2, following which her husband Santosh lodged a complaint. Later, police invoked kidnapping charges against unknown people when Santosh received some anonymous phone calls.

Police Inspector (Crime) Rajendra Joshi told UNI that Nanaware and Rupali were working in the same company and he was the driver of the pick-up cab ferrying Rupali and others. Nanaware fell in love with Rupali, who was already married. She spurned him. Irked by her denial, Nanaware allegedly accosted her and forced her into a car. On his way to Bhor on April 2, he strangled her and threw the body in the Warandha Ghat section on the Pune Satara road.
