The Rupee Checking Account offers a host of features, which includes easy money transfers to India1, Demand Draft deliveries at over 700 locations2 and ATM/Debit Card for you and your family in India. With this Account, you can nominate your parents or a relative in India to operate it. It opens up a window to all your financial needs in India such as insurance and investments. It lets you pay utility bills and EMIs of home loans in India, so you can take care of your family, even from miles away.

This Account is for NRIs, Indians travelling abroad on work with a valid passport and a valid H1/L1/J1/H1-B visa.
1 Any conversion from one currency to another shall be at the rate of conversion as applicable and determined by the bank as on the transaction date. Citibank's conversion rate for both incoming and outgoing transfers denominated in a foreign currency includes a commission for the conversion service. In the absence of the special offer, the minimum balance required to open a Citibank Rupee Checking Account is USD 1000. Also an average monthly balance of USD 1000 needs to be maintained to avoid levy of Service Charges (USD 10 per month). The charges of operating and transacting on the Rupee Checking Account may change from time to time based on the sole discretion of Citibank, N.A., India.
2 Once you open the Rupee Checking Account, you can issue a Demand Draft/ Pay Order by using our Internet Banking facility. All demand drafts ordered are absolutely free of cost. The drafts will be issued in India and couriered directly to the beneficiary within 2 banking days. Your beneficiary would receive the same within 5 banking days from the date of receipt of your instructions. This service is currently available over 700 locations across India and there are over 324 locations in India where Citibank has courier tie-ups with. If the location of your beneficiary is not one of the courier tie-up locations, the demand draft would be sent by registered post.
3 Open your account before April 30, 2007 with USD 500 cheque value and get a waiver on the minimum balance for the next 10 years and a complimentary World Cup 1983, The Greatest Moment in Indian Cricket DVD. Please Mention "Offer Code 590" while account opening. At the end of the offer period, an average monthly balance of USD 1000 is required to maintain the account to avoid levy of Service Charges (USD 10 per month).
4 The gift will be delivered 6-8 weeks after account opening.The goods providers shall be solely responsible to the customer to render the goods and Citibank, N.A., and its affiliates shall not be responsible or liable for any deficiency or defect in the same including, but not limited to, deficient or defective quality, delivery, quantity etc., and shall not be made party to any disputes between the customer and any such goods/service(s) providers.
