Bhopal, Apr 16 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today announced that socio-economic security would be provided to the more than 72 lakh agricultural labourers toiling in the state's unorganised sector.

''The decision was taken in consonance with my government's commitment and vision to bring every social segment into the development mainstream,'' he said here while addressing BJP office-bearers at the party's state office.

Claiming that Madhya Pradesh witnessed all-round progress over the past three years, Mr Chouhan added that the public actually felt this pleasant change on the development front.

''The party organisation has to build a framework by going even further than blocks to the panchayat level through the medium of its cells and fronts. Public participation in determination of policies has been enhanced through conventions aimed at benefiting farmers, women, forests, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and others,'' he claimed.

A Rani Durgavati Jayanti would be organised on the lines of the Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar Mahakumbh in the Military Headquarters Of War area, the Chief Minister said while adding that women's gram sabhas would be organised across the state in memory of Jhansi's Rani Lakshmibai. A Kisan Kumbh would coincide with Balram Jayanti.

''Over five decades, Madhya Pradesh's power generation was 2,990 MW while the BJP government attained a target of 3,150 MW within a short period. Another target was achieved when irrigation capacity was enhanced to 13 lakh hectares,'' he explained.
