Six dacoits remanded to police custody

Vadodara, Apr 16 (UNI) A local court remanded six men to six days police custody today for committing armed robbery in Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, Baroda and at other places in the state.

The sentence was pronounced by the first sessions court.

The dacoits were arrested on Sunday at 0330 hrs by the Vernama police while they were sleeping in a field owned by one Bashirbhai, 15 km from here.

Police said a gang of nine robbers was coming to Bashirbhai's farmland for the past three nights from April 13. Some of them began spending their nights on the farm. Bashirbhai alerted the police, who kept a watch and apprehended six of them, while the three fled in a car.

The police team seized a booty worth Rs 6.50 lakh, including US 897 dollars, 10 sterling pounds, Rs 32,898, gold and silver ornaments, including gold biscuits.

The arrested persons have been identified as Sunil Neharsinh Nat, Kalabhai Shakkabhai Nat, Harpal Babaria Nat, Jawala Natulal Nat, Jacky Natulal Nat and Dhanraj Natubhai Nat, all hail from Kalupur in Ahmedabad, they added.
