Agartala, Apr 16 (UNI) Six militants of Meghalaya based underground outfit HNLC, including two women cadres, surrendered to the BSF at Panisagar in north district of Tripura yesterday.

According to BSF sources, the HNLC insurgents sneaked into the Indian side under Kailashahar sub-division from base camps in neighbouring Bangladesh.

The militants, including the two women rebels, however, did not deposit any arms and ammunition.

During mid February this year, nine such rebels had surrendered to the BSF in Tripura.

Besides, seven Nagaland based underground NSCN militants have surrendered to the BSF during March and some weapons had been deposited.

Meghalaya police has been informed by the BSF about yesterday's surrender and it was expected that they would come within few days to take back the insurgents, official sources said.

When asked about the reasons for surrendering in Tripura, an official said that it might be because training camps of the underground forces existed near Tripura border with Bangladesh and was easy to sneak into Tripura as international border.

The present caretaker government in the neighbouring country launched anti-insurgency drive to flush out insurgent groups operating from Bangladesh's base camp, forcing to surrender various outfit militants including Tripura's NLFT and ATTF.
