RJD demands judicial probe into firing on dalits

Patna, May 16 (UNI) The RJD today demanded judicial probe into the police firing on dalits assembled to celebrate the 116th anniversary of Baba BhimRao Ambedkar in Gaya.

Leading a fact finding team of the RJD to Gaya, the President of the party's dalit cell and former Minister Suresh Paswan termed the incident as ''unfortunate'' and said the police firing on the dalits who had gathered to celebrate the birth anniversary of the architect of the Indian constitution was a 'sensitive' issue.

Holding the District Magistrate and Police Superintendent of Gaya and Subdivisional Officer of the district responsible for the firing, he demanded immediate removal of the three officers.

Mr Paswan said the team would call on Governor R S Gavai to apprise him of the 'high handedness' of police. He informed that the team had got a CD of the incident which would be given to the governor for his perusal.
