Now, both India, Pak to maintain border pillars
Barmer, Apr 16 (UNI) Border pillars located on the international boreders between India and Pakistan will now be maintained and looked after by both the countries.
Earlier, the Border Security Forces looked after at least 1000 border pillars. But now, according to reliable sources, both India and Pakistan will look after these pillars.
Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Barmer in western Rajasthan are located along the 1022 km long fenced border with Pakistan.
Between the fencing and Pakistan's land, these pillars are located at a certain distance from the Zero Line.
An agreement in this regard is likely to be concluded at the deputy inspector general levels' next quarterly flag meeting to be held in Munabao in Barmer district.
The even numbered border pillars would be looked after by India while the odd numbered pillars would be maintained by Pakistan, the sources added.
A secretary-level meeting would also be held in this regard.
