Notification issued for greater Hyderabad corporation

Hyderabad, Apr 16 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Government today issued notification constituting Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC)by merging 12 Municipalities and Eight Gram Panchayats around Hyderabad city.

Announcing this at a press conference here , Minister for Information and Public Relations and Power, Ali Shabbir Mohammed said the government has issued notification constituting Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

He said with a view to secure efficiency and economy in municipal administration, the government has decided to include the areas covered by the 12 Municipalities and eight Gram Panchayats for facilitating improved and high standared of civic services, providing better civic administration mechanism, ensuring better planning and focussed development of the city.

He said the GHMC covered about 625 sq.kilometers with a population of about 55 lakhs, compared to 172 sq.kms earlier with a population of 36.32 lakhs.

He said there would not be any tax burden on the citizens following the constitution of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
