New Delhi, Apr 16 (UNI) The Congress today described as normal legal practice the sending of notice by the Supreme Court to the Centre on the eligibility of Congress President Sonia Gandhi holding a Constitutional post in view of her foreign origin.

Congress Spokesman Satyavrat Chaturvedi recalled that both the High Court and the apex Court have already rejected similar petitions on the issue earlier.

The courts have even reprimanded the petitioner for the petition while rejecting the cases, Mr Chaturvedi said briefing media persons here.

Mr Chaturvedi said the purpose behind sending notices by the court when an SLP was filed was to know the different points of view before considering the case and deciding it.

It is normal legal practice adopted by the court, the spokesman said.
