No privatisation in Railways: Lalu Prasad
Hyderabad, Apr 16: Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad said there was no question of privatisation in the Railways. Participating in the 52nd Railway Week Celebrations organised by the South Central Railway (SCR) here, he said the UPA government was committed to make the Railways the best from the third position in the World at present.
"The Ministry of Railways was taking steps to expand the railway network in a big way in the future," he said.
He said Indian Railways would have been privatised had he not taken over the reins of Indian Railways.
Mr Yadav said the Ministry was also committed to protect the interests of Railway employees. "There was no retrenchment in the Railways. The employees are the main asset to the Railway services," said the railway Minister.
