Licensed weapons permitted in Naxal-hit areas

Mirzapur, Apr 16: With the view to combat naxalism in this district for the ongoing Uttar Pradesh assembly poll, licensed weapons would not be submitted in the area.

The permission to keep the licensed weapons has been granted to only some villages falling under six station areas, police today said.

Out of 200 licensed weapons, 135 have been permitted in 19 naxal affected villages of Ahrora station area, while 92 out of 132 have been permitted in Madihan.

Besides, a large number of police personnel and helicopters was also been deployed to keep a keen eye on the naxal-affected areas.

Meanwhile, police has asked people to cooperate in the operation.
