Mysore, Apr 16 (UNI) In a first of its kind initiative, the Karnataka Government today launched a programme of solving public grievances at the grassroots level by sending Government officials on village visits, starting with the villages of Hunsur taluk in the district.

The 20-strong team, comprising taluk level officials from various departments, started their session at Sabbanahalli, Bilikere and other villages in Hunsur taluk. They would stay overnight to solve the problems on the spot.

The programme, introduced here on a pilot basis, was the brain child of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, who himself had undertook many such village visits to solve the problems of villagers on the spot.

Cooperative and district incharge Minister G T Deve Gowda would also join the officials for overnight stay at Helebedu village in Hunsur taluk. State Chief Secretary P B Mahishi was scheduled to visit the region tomorrow.

The major complaints pertained to grievances like non-supply of power to their dwellings, under measuring of kerosene and commodities supplied in fair price shops through the public distribution system and apathy of doctors at Government Hospitals.

On power supply, the officials of the Chamundi Electricity Supply Corporation assured the villagers that quality power would be supplied all days, subject to availability in the grid. They reminded the villagers that load shedding and power cuts have affected people across the State.

The officials said the food inspector would keep a vigil and ensure proper measurement and regular supply of kerosene and food grains under the PDS.

About the complaint on doctors, they assured that proper action would be taken against erring doctors.
