Kanchi seers case posted to Jun 6

Puducherry, Apr 16 (UNI) Puducherry Principal District and Sessions Judge M Chinnapandi hearing the Sankararaman Murder Case in which Kanchi Seers Jayendra and Vijayendra Saraswathi are the prime accused today posted the case to June 6.

When the case came up for hearing today, 11 of the 24 accused turned up. Separate petitions citing the reason for the absence of the seers were filed by their counsel.

A special leave petition (SLP) was pending in the Supreme Court on the continued appearance of Tamil Nadu Special Public Prosecutors in the case.

Last year, the Supreme Court directed the sessions court not to proceed with the trial until further orders on the appointment of special public prosecutors from Tamil Nadu.
