Joining NCP merges with congress
Itanagar, Apr 16 (UNI) With the joining of two Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) MLA Nikh Kamin(Yachuli constituency) and T Wangham (Longding-Pumao constituency) today, the ruling Congress in the state has gained its strength from 33 to 35.
With this the congress now has 35 MLAs in a 60-member House, while opposition BJP has 9, Arunachal Congress 2, besides 13 independent members.
State Assembly Speaker Setong Sena said that the applications of those NCP legislators forwarded by Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee president Omem Moyang Deori, Congress Legislature Party(CLP) leader Dorjee Khandu were accepted much earlier, under the provisions of the Tenth Schedule of the party constitution.
Interestingly, state NCP president Aath Kabak Tacho yesterday expelled MLA Kamin for three years for 'violating NCP discipline' and 'deserting the party to join the Congress'.
