Intel teach programme launched in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Apr 16 (UNI) Focussing on enhancing learning in classrooms, Intel has launched its teach programme in Chhattisgarh to empower teachers to use technology to improve teaching and learning.

State's School Education Secretary C K Khaitan signed a memorandum of agreement with Intel India representative Anshul Sonak to launch the Intel teach programme, being implemented under its 'World Ahead Programme' aimed at implementing computer based education by encouraging innovative teaching methods.

As per the agreement, the Chhattisgarh government in collaboration with Intel will work towards equipping uninitiated teachers into using technology by conducting regular refresher courses, enhancement and technology workshops. Through this programme, it is proposed to train 7000 teachers in the coming academic session.

School Education Minister Megharam Sahu, who was present on the occasion, said this partnership with Intel was aimed at educating teachers to integrate information and communication technology tools and resources into their learning methods to enhance student learning through quality teaching.

Intel India representative Anshul Sonak said the programme was being implemented free of cost so as to encourage the teachers to integrate innovative teaching methods to promote 21st century skills among them.

He said Intel teach programme, launched in India in February 2000, has now spread to more than 35 districts in 13 states. Till now, more than 6.90 lakh school teachers have been trained under the programme, he added.
