Hridyanath Mangeshkar conferred upon Lata Samman

Indore, Apr 16 (UNI) Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar's brother and musician Hridyanath Mangeshkar has been conferred upon the prestigious Lata Mangeshkar award.

Madhya Pradesh PWD Minister Kailash Vijaywargiya, Culture Minister Lakshmikant Sharma and MP Sumitra Mahajan presented Rs one lakh, a shawl and a citation as part of the award yesterday.

The award is conferred to recognise contribution in the field of music and singing.

So far, 24 artistes, including Lata's younger sister Asha Bhonsle, Naushad, Kishore Kumar, Anil Vishwas, Manna Dey, Talat Mehmood, Jaideo, Khayyam, R D Burman, Lakshmikant Pyarelal, Kalyanji Anandji, Jagjit Singh and Bhupen Hazarika have been honoured with the award.

Born on October 26, 1937, Hridyanath Mangeshkar hails from a family committed to music. He is son of famous musician and dramatist late Deenanath Mangeshkar and brother of renowned singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle.
