Heritage gates in Orissa to attract tourists

Bhubaneswar,Apr 16 (UNI) Heritage gates reflecting the ancient art, tradition and culture of Orissa will be erected at the entrance of the temple city of Bhubaneswar and the pilgrim city of Puri in an attempt to beautify the two cities to attract tourists.

A decision in this regard was taken at a high level meeting of the Tourism and Culture departments chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

State Culture Minister S N Patra told newsmen after the meeting that in the first phase four such heritage gates, two each in Puri and Bhubaneswar, would be constructed at the entrance of the cities.

He said both Bhubaneswar and Puri were considered to be the major attraction for the tourists coming to the state.Each heritage gate, Mr Patra said, would cost Rs 25 to 30 lakhs.

State Tourism Minister Debi Prasad Mishra and other senior officials attended the meeting.
