HC summons state Finance Secretary

Patna, Apr 16 (UNI) Patna High court today directed the Bihar Finance Secretary to appear in person before it on April 30 in connection with embezzlement of public funds from the fiscal 1989-90 to 2004-05.

Hearing a public interst litigation (PIL) filed by Council for Protection of Public Rights and Welfare, division bench comprising Justice Narayan Roy and Justice J N Singh passed the order.

Referring to the Comptroller and Auditor General's report, the petitioner alleged that officials of all the 45 departments of Bihar government had defalcated or misappropriated Rs 1700 crores during the period of 1989-2005.
