Haryana govt to launch small saving scheme

Chandigarh, Apr 16 (UNI) The Haryana government will launch the 'Haryana Small Savings Prize Scheme' of Rs 1.45 crore for the current financial year.

The prize scheme would cover the period from April 1 to March 31, next year.

Giving this information here today, Finance Minister Birender Singh said that Kisan Vikas Patra, post office time deposit accounts for a period not less than three years, National Savings Certificates (VIII issue), Five Year Post Office Recurring Deposit Account and 15 years Public Provident Fund Account in the Post Offices and Banks situated in the state of Haryana are covered under the scheme.

He said the draw of investments made between April to March 31 next year was tentatively scheduled for the month of July this year at Panchkula.

He said that the first prize would be of Rs one lakh, followed by two second prizes of Rs 50,000 each and four third prizes of Rs 25,000 each. Besides there would be fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth prizes of different denominations.

The Minister said that one coupon would be issued free of cost for every deposit of Rs 5,000 and Rs 2,500 in favour of male and female accounts respectively. One coupon would be issues for every deposit.

The aggregate deposits made in the 5-year Post Office Recurring Deposit Account in this fiscal shall be treated as lump sum deposit for the entitlement of prize coupons. He clarified that if the monthly deposit installment was Rs 750 and the actual aggregate deposits into the accounts during the whole year was Rs 9,000, then one coupon would be issued in case of a male account and three coupons in case of a female account.

In case of joint accounts, the sex of the first account holder would be taken into consideration for the purpose of entitlement of coupons. In case of minor accounts, the sex of the minor would be considered.
