Bahraich/Balrampur, Apr 16 (UNI) Terming Uttar Pradesh as a ''rest house'' for history-sheeters, BSP chief and former Chief Minister Mayawati today asserted not only women, even men are unsafe in the state.

''Earlier, women were not safe. But, in Mulayam Singh Yadav regime, men also fear to tread out of their house in late hours,'' Ms Mayawati said addressing election rallies in Bahraich and Balrampur districts.

''Except criminals, no one is happy in UP. They are the only ones being served by Mulayam,'' the BSP supremo alleged.

Expressing concern over the 'dismal' condition of UP, she charged the over the years, the UP crime graph has increased. ''It is painful that the CM is turning a deaf ear to it.'' Inveighing the Mulayam regime, she alleged that the present government works only for big industrialists and has always cheated the masses.

Mr Yadav and SP general secretary Amar Singh have amassed ill-gotten wealth by siphoning funds from the state exchequer and are planning to flee the country, she added.

''After coming to power, I will expose the wrong doings of Mr Yadav. Therefore, he is planning to leave India along with his friend Amar Singh. But I will never let that happen.'' She said ''since the day Mulayam came to power, there is 'jungle raj' in UP and I hold Congress, RLD and BJP equally responsile for it.'' Coming out heavily on exit polls shown by newspapers, she criticised a section of media for being hand-in-glove with SP. ''Mr Yadav along with some mediamen is trying to confuse voters by showing wrong exit polls.'' ''All their efforts will turn futile as no one can stop BSP from coming to power. The results will prove it.'' Talking about small political parties, Ms Mayawati said they have no identity of their own and would disappear after UP poll.

She reiterated that it was due to her belief in equity-based society, that she gave adequate representation to all the religions and communities while distributing tickets.

''BSP has given 93, 113, 61 and 136 tickets to SC, backwards, Muslims and uppercaste Hindus respectively. Of the 136 tickets to upper castes, Brahmins and Rajputs account for 86 and 36 respectively.'' UNI
