Corpse of missing woman buried by police

Rewa, MP, Apr 16 (UNI) A demonstration was staged by people in front of Atraila police station here demanding action against the Station House Officer, who allegedly buried the corpse of a married woman, who had gone missing about 15 days back.

Several people's representatives, including CPI(M) legislator Ramlakhan Sharma and other Congress leaders, were present, police said.

The demonstration continued till afternoon and the protestors demanded action against SHO Gulab Singh, who got the woman buried believing her to be unidentified.

Senior police officers, including Additional Superintendent of Police Rakesh Jain, reached the spot.

The woman's corpse was found two days back from a place, 65 km from Atraila area.

Later, on the basis of her clothes, the woman was identified as Ramgadhwa village-resident Shanti Jaiswal (28), who had eloped with one Ashok Gupta about 15 days back. Her body was later dug out.

Police said the woman had taken her two children, aged between one to four year old, along with her.

The SHO was negligent regarding getting the woman identified despite the fact that a missing complaint had been lodged.

The woman's children and her alleged paramour were missing. The protestors were also demanding to find the whereabouts of the two children.
