Coordination Committee meeting of SAD, BJP held
Chandigarh, Apr 16 (UNI) The first Coordination Committee meeting of the ruling alliance partners-Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and BJP was held here today to discuss the strategy to be adopted by the two parties for the civic elections to be held next month.
Elections to the Municipal Corporations of Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Jalandhar scheduled for May would be the first test of popularity of the SAD-BJP government.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at his official residence. Prominent amongst those persent were senior members of SAD who are members of the Committee.
Amongst the BJP members who attended the meeting were Cabinet Minister Manoranjan Kalia, state BJP chief Avinash Khanna and Amritsar MP Navjot Singh Sidhu. BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley who is incharge of the parts affairs in Punjab could not attend the meeting as he was preoccupied with the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.
The Committee was formed for the smooth functioning of the SAD-BJP government and for reviewing the progress of the government from time to time.
