Cong criticises postponement of local body polls
Bangalore, Apr 16 (UNI) Criticising the Karnataka Government for postponing the elections to the Urban Local Bodies by nine weeks, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee today accused the Government of having no courage to face the hustings.
Party Spokesman V S Ugrappa told reporters here that the JD(S)-BJP coalition Government had failed in its duty of conducting polls on time. It had no faith in Constitutional norms and social justice, he alleged, claiming that the coalition partners had lost the confidence of the people.
Earlier in the day, the High Court postponed the April 24 elections following the State Government's submission that there were serious lapses in the reservation list and it needed time to set right the lapses.
