Badal calls for simple Central funding procedures

Chandigarh, Apr 16 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today advocated a ''simplified procedure'' for funding aided projects of state governments by the central government.

''The Centre should have a system for funding state projects, to avoid delays,'' he said while talking to mediapersons here.

Referring to delays by the central government in providing funds for projects, he pointed out that at times projects for development of link roads or water supply schemes are delayed because funds do not reach the state in time. ''I do not understand the reason of such delays,'' he added without being specific.

The Chief Minister regretted that the previous Congress government had failed to get the desired funds for projects from the Centre.

Mr Badal disclosed that he would undertake two three trips to Delhi every month to pursue with the central government matters related with Punjab.
