40-year-old arrested for raping minor

Fatehgarh Sahib, Apr 16 (UNI) Sirhind police has arrested a 40-year- old man on the charges of allegedly raping a minor.

According to police, Santosh, the mother of the victim found on returning home from work about 15 days ago that her six-year-old daughter was bleeding profusely. On much coaxing the traumatised child revealed that their neighbour Bhupinder Singh had called her to his house on the pretext of giving her some sweets. He raped her afrer showing her some pornographic material and later threatened her to keep quiet.

When Santosh, a migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh whose husband was in jail, told the incident to another neighbour friend, she was advised to keep quiet.

However, according to Santosh, when she came to know that Bhupinder had allegedly raped three other girls, she decided to lodge a complaint with local police on April 14. The Medical examination of the victim girl was conducted at local hospital, police said.

Police today presented the accused before duty magistrate here.
