Two militants killed in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 14 (UNI) Two militants were killed in a fierce encounter by the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and Rashtriya Rifles (RR) today.

A police spokesman said SOG, Imam Sahib, and RR launched a joint operation at Nowgam in the newly created Shopian district in south Kashmir this morning following a tip-off about the presence of militants there.

He said when the area was being sealed, militants opened fire on security forces. The fire was returned and in the fierce clash two militants were killed. Two ak rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
