Tributes paid to Dr Ambedkar on 116th birth anniversary

New Delhi, Apr 14 (UNI) Glowing tributes were paid to Dr B R Ambedkar on his 116th birth anniversary here today.

Several programmes, including a rally, were held across the capital to commemorate the occasion.

In the Delhi Assembly, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Speaker Prem Singh and other members paid floral tributes at Dr Ambedkar's portrait.

Elaborate security and traffic arrangements were put in place in Delhi for the rally.

The rally -- 'Shobha Yatra'-- commenced from Parade Ground and wound through Chandi Chowk, East Park Road, Jhandewalan Chowk and terminated at Dr Ambedkar Bhawan.

UNI
