TDP demos against pix of skull, cross bones on beedi packs

Hyderabad, Apr 14 (UNI) Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said the party would hold protest demonstrations and rallies against the Centre's ''adamant attitude'' on the pictorial warning depicting skulls and cross bones on beedi packets.

Talking to newspersons at NTR Trust Bhavan, party headquarters, Mr Naidu said the Centre's decision would adversely affect the beedi industry and the workers, most of whom were women.

He said the party would hold demonstrations in the Telangana districts where majority of beedi workers live. The rally would be held on April 16 in Metpalli in Karimnagar district and start the agitation the next day in the same district.
