Sheikh Hasina wont be arrested until charges are proved: MA Matin

Dhaka, Apr 14 (UNI) A top Bangladesh government official clarified that former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would not be arrested until criminal charges she faces are proved, reports today said.

'' Sheikh Hasina will not be arrested until charges of extortion are proved against her,'' Government Advisor M A Matin told newspersons yesterday, 'The New Nation' reported.

Mr Matin, who also heads a national task force designed to deal with corruption cases involving top bureaucrats, said a special taskforce would be investigating charges against the Awami League Chief.

'' There is no reason to rush the legal procedure against her (Hasina). She went abroad on her own and she can come back home whenever she wants'', he added.

Sheikh Hasina has denied all charges against her and there are indications that she will extend her visit to the US in the face of the controversy.
