Prepare people to face natural calamities: Rane
Panaji, April 14 (UNI) Goa Chief Miniter Pratapsinh Rane today stressed the need to prepare people to face natural calamities and minimise damages.
He was addressing the State Fire and Emergency Services directorate personnel on the occasion of the 'National Fire Services Day' here.
Mr Rane called for training citizens, especially the youth so that they can tackle emergencies effectively.
He urged people to engage themselves in fire prevention techniques in order to save human life and property.
He asked industries to equip themselves with fire control and prevention techniques with adequate equipment.
Mr Rane released a booklet titled 'Fire prevention is better option' on the occasion. The booklet educates people on fire prevention and mitigation to ensure public safety.
Authorities also organised a live fire fighting and rescue demonstration.
The gathering observed a two-minute silence in the memory of the firemen who laid down their lives on duty.
