Policeman killed in Jalna

Jalna, Maharashtra, Apr 14 (UNI) In a freak incident, a police constable on bandobast duty today at the railway station, was killed when a bullet hit him after he reportedly pressed the trigger of his service gun.

Confirming the incident, Superintendent of Police Chiranjeev Prasad, told UNI that constable Shantilal Subhashrao Jadhav (30) was deployed on bandobast duty at the railway reservation counter here and was killed on the spot, when a bullet accidently was fired from his service gun.

Mr Prasad, however, said the police were investigating the exact cause of his death and are not ruling out the possibility of a suicide attempt.

'We are looking into both the aspects, whether it was an accident or an attempt of suicide,'' Mr Prasad said.
