Paswan unveils Dr Ambedkar's statue at RCF

Mumbai, Apr 14 (UNI) Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan unveiled a statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar at the Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers (RCF) campus on the occasion of the 116th birth anniversary of the architect of India's Constitution.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Paswan recalled Dr Ambedkar's contributions towards strengthening India's Parliamentary democracy.

Refering to the reservation system, Mr Paswan rebuffed the contention that it had led to filling of vacancies with people unqualified for the posts.

Later, speaking informally to reporters, Mr Paswan regretted the occurrence of certain unsavoury incidents in Maharashtra like the Khairlanji massacre.

However, he added that the Dalits should not feel insecure due to such stray incidents in this state.

Mr Paswan stressed the need for forging harmonious relations between people of all faiths.
